The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00 pm by Bishop Frederick Henry.
Confirmation is the sacrament that completes our full initiation into the church. It is sometimes called the sacrament of the Holy Spirit. In receiving the sacrament, we are reminded of our baptism call to carry on the mission of the church to do Jesus’s work.
Children in grade six and up are invited to register by April 1, 2020.
Preparation will consist of a parent and student session, three student sessions and a retreat, all of which require mandatory attendance. Children will participate in a social justice project, research their chosen saint, and write a letter to the bishop.
The Parish Commitment Mass allows the candidate to promise to do their best to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation as well as to ask the parish family to support and pray for them. Our first session will discuss what is Confirmation and what it is not and will touch on the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as a review of what is expected of the Confirmandi.
The other sessions will cover the sacraments of initiation, what we believe as a Catholic Community, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, the signs and symbols of the sacrament of Confirmation, being a Christian witness and the rite of Confirmation.
The confirmation Team, Father Edmund Vargas our parish priest, Deacon Ron, Ashley, Jeffrell, Julienne, Martina and Dorothy look forward to being part of your child’s faith journey.
