Happy Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe!

Happy Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe!

With this Solemnity the Liturgical year ends. On this Last Sunday of the Church year, we focus on the final and glorious things to come!

When the Church refers to Jesus as king, she means a few things: He is our Shepherd, and as our Shepherd He wants to lead us personally to the Kingdom of God. He wants to enter our lives personally, intimately, and carefully, never imposing Himself but always offering Himself as our guide.
A king shepherd is something difficult to grasp. It is quite easy to reject this kind of kingship.
The desire of Jesus is to lead every aspect of our lives and lead us in all things. He desires to become the absolute ruler and monarch of our souls, for He does know what is the best for us. He wants us to come to Him for everything and to become dependent upon Him always.
Even though our Lord desires the best for us by way of being the monarch of our souls, He will not impose this sort of kingship upon us. It is up to us to accept it. It is up to each individual called by Christ to accept it freely and without reservation. Jesus will only rule our lives if we freely surrender ourselves over. When we decide to surrender to the Lord, His Kingdom begins to become established within us! And the beautiful thing of this is that as His Kingdom begins to establish within us, it is through us that His Kingdom is established in the world.
We have to surrender to this kind of kingship that Jesus wants to establish among the believers. For that we have to be ready to become his sheep, thus, becoming his instruments, so that the world can know about Him.
On this Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, as a community let us recognize the kingship of Christ and recognize our dependency on the Lord to make a reality the Kingdom of God here on earth.
It also means that next Sunday is already the First Sunday of Advent.
